Enlighten Me! :)

To quote that 70's homo I'm dying song
"we had joy we had fun we had seasons in the Sun, but the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone"

or

"those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end..."

I lay the blame squarely at the feet of the Neo-Cons for taking away our republic and handing us a Fascist Oligarchy where the heads of Corporate America and the richest few now have wrested the power of government from the citizenry.

So the Dems are neocons, eh?
Never thought I'd hear you say that, Tim!

Are you gonna do that whole "I know you are, but what am I?" thing now?

Actually, yes, some Dems (Lieberman) are Neo-cons.

Obama seems to have the Lefties as pissed off as the Righties.

I am tired of being pegged as a leftie lib when I am an Independent. Hated Bush as well as our leftie loon guv (Grandholm).

Alice in Wonderland anybody? Talk to the Caterpillar. It's like recognizing the poet Ezra Pound was a big-time Fascist (why he spent dat time in jail) and had strong Socialist philosophical and cultural roots - you read the poems and he sounds all Standard University-normal, but you hear the F-bomb label and have to wince - it's the cognitive dissonance at work - you have to get around the Left's dominance of the issues just to speak and think again.
Who invented "neo-con" anyway? Isn't that Lefty codespeak for "Jew?"
Brave New World...

Hey DC!
Go ask Alice?

Now Tim, let's not play the wounded non-partisan. Look at your latest post with Barry on it. Giving our children's and grandchildren's future away to incredibly wealthy and reckless bankers and corporations is NOT "investing in your own country".

Plus, Independent is a voting registration attribute, not an idealogical one. That said - You tend left; not that there's anything wrong with that (err....) and you know I love ya man.

I tend right, but you'll note I'm rapidly moving away from right/left and gearing my thoughts more towards statism(of both left and right ilk)vs liberty.

An example -

Right: Prostitution is wrong. Actually, it could lead to damnation.

Left: Prostitution is cool and green, women should be free to be whores; it empowers them. It should probably be subsidized with tax dollars, along with up to 15th trimester abortions.

Conservative UAW Guy: - Prostitution is wrong. Actually, it could lead to damnation. It is also a business agreement between two consenting adult individuals, and a victemless crime. Therefore, it should be legal. I'll pray for them.

Right minded, liberty minded.

And I share your distaste for Bush and the canuk, as well.

Still on for the bike ride?

"Giving our children's and grandchildren's future away to incredibly wealthy and reckless bankers and corporations is NOT "investing in your own country".

Yes, agreed. I believe the "TARP" (isn't that something used to cover up something?) was instituted by Bush & Co., no?

The stimulus package (and let's face it: McSame would have had one, too) is about building/repairing the nation's infrastructure. Why is it okay to build schools, roads, hospitals, etc. in Allahland with OUR MONEY merely to see them blown up over and over again by heathens (did I spell that correctly?) who still reside in the dark ages? Meanwhile Detroit stands out as as big a festering sore as New Orleans and that's okay?
Republicans in congress are trying to force the USAF to buy 7 AIRPLANES (COST 2 BILLION)that they DO NOT WANT to fight an enemy THAT DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE (note: these planes are "too valuable" to be risked in Iraq or Afgahnistan, so WHY IN THE HE double toothpicks are we making them? Let's not also forget that they cost $50,000 AN HOUR to fly. 2-3 billion would go a long way in tearing down the rotten hulks that are in Detroit and building new, clean, hospitals and schools (in a city that has a 25% graduation rate). Sticking our grandchildren with that bill is fine, though. Right?

"I tend right, but you'll note I'm rapidly moving away from right/left and gearing my thoughts more towards statism(of both left and right ilk)vs liberty."

I, too am really more Libritarian in philosophy, but as a policical party they can't get a foothold because the two party system (which is really run by the corporate Fascists that really hold the power in America) guarentee that a Dem or Republican always win. Read Jesse Ventura's latest book "Don't start the revolution without me". It's pretty good.

You are wrong on the left prostitution stance: They believe that the prostitute should get a check from the govt. and then would not need to whore herself out. So, she'd be like another welfare recipient (farmers) who get a check for not growing crops, Which is really a Republican group. So, I guess it really boils down to how much money you have whether or not something is a "subsidy" or a "hand out".

Republican veiw on adultery: "It's an affront to God and the family! (That is, unless I'm doing it, then it's okay). Re: Sanford, Ensign, etc.

Personally, I say use protection, it's between you, your wife and God. If you do it don't be a hypocrite and condemn people publicly. When you get caught (and, eventually, you will) at least you won't look the fool as badly. And have a little class. When Spitzer got caught he left in a hurry. Sanford is looking and acting the fool.

Summer's winding down fast, when we gonna ride those motorcycles? I'll meet ya at Tony Packo's on Front St.

Things are never truly lost and never truly won. Even in Soviet Russia under Stalin, if the people had decided it was time to fight because all hope had been lost, they could have taken down their government in the streets. As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn put it, if they'd realized that they had nothing to lose, and fought back even by ambushing the government agents in the hallways of their building complexes with workers' tools, it would have eventually so terrified the government agents that reform would have been forced.

We are not there yet in our own way because we are still too comfortable. Let us not forget, though, that the system is not strong enough to hold us back if and when the time for change comes.

Neocons weren't involved. They were not in power during the past 8 years. Bush and Cheney were, and they were old conservatives, not newly converted neo-cons.

Joe Lieberman is a liberal, and is not a conservative of any kind.

Mike T: said: "Even in Soviet Russia under Stalin, if the people had decided it was time to fight because all hope had been lost, they could have taken down their government in the streets."

Around the time of WW2, Stalin thought nothing of executing millions of Russians. His dictatorship was as absolute as they come, and with a great willingness to kill anyone who looked at him funny. Had their been street uprisings, he'd have thought nothing of killing a few million more people.

Alternate reality wise, I can't see how a "people power" revolution could have dented Stalin's regime.

(I mispelled "there" in the previous comment, I know!).

Oh. A UAW-related question. I saw an issue of UAW's "Solidarity" magazine recently. Do you have any idea if this is funded with regular dues, or is strictly funded from UAW special political donations?

I don't know how the mag is funded dmarks. I assume it is from union dues, but I don't know that for a fact.

Tim, keep an eye on the weather for this weekend; we'll see what happens.
Stoopid rain.

We've only failed, when the Fed successfully confiscates all firearms.

Hi, Insol!

Not this week JB, too much going on...

Insol - Don't think they're not working on that as we type, either.

It's pure grace of God holding back the government from totally shredding the Constitution and turning U.S. into a leftist/socialist reich-schtaat.
Each American born today is owing something close to $200 grand to the continually borrowing treasury, on top of any personal debt.
Barring a miracle, there is a hard correction coming our way. The only question is what exact form it will take.
