As for liberals tolerating torture, if I recall correctly, it was Clinton who intervened and stopped torture, genocide, and so forth in places like Bosnia and Kosovo, while Republicans carped about "wag the dog" and "quagmire" and demanded withdraw deadlines.

NATO and Ameican action in Bosnia was coordinated by NATO with the UN as part of the dual key system. Both the NATO commander and the UN appointed rep had to approve airstrikes until the very last campaign, when the UN gave NATO a free hand to do what had to be done. In fact, UN peacekeepers, mostly British SAS, but sometimes DutchBat called in the airstrikes.
As for Kosovo, that action had implicit UN approval when the UNSC shot down a Russian resolution condemning the airstrikes by a vote of 12-3. As for our actions post conflict, they have been conducted under UNSC resolution 1244.

But if the talking heads are that easy to look at, I could probably stand to watch the occasional bit of "not quite news but not entirely opinions)

US troops are often commanded by foreign troops. It wasn't a problem in the Revolution, WWII, Korea, Desert Storm, so I have no problem with it in Bosnia, Kosovo, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Afghanistan, and so forth.
For an alliance to work, sometimes you have to be willing to accept a subordinate position. Patriotism is irrelevant.
Pete, Albania, post Communism, has been a US ally. They sent more troops to support the US in Iraq than say Israel, and cooperated on terrorist investigations in the past.
And while the majority of Albanians are nominally Muslim, if you knew the basics of Balkan history you would know religion with the Albanians is a secondary affair. Hence why Albanian nationalism was able to unite Catholics, Atheists, Muslims, and Orthodox into a single nation. Also, 40-50 years of Yugoslav and Albanian communist also killed off religious interest among Albanians.
Europe was a nightmare, which only led to the division of Germany and later on, a cold war. The Japanese occupation held unilaterally by the US turned out much better. Korea is still divided, the North being led by a marxist dictator who dresses a lot like Bea Arthur. Saddam wasn't killed the first time around...
And that's the problem with liberals, always willing to subjugate themselves to get along.

As long as they could violate your precious UN's toothless sanctions and make oil for food money. Once again the US led the way in freeing another country while the rest of the world stood by impotently. You seem to know your sanctions. Tell us how many sanctions the following countries have violated when it comes to IRAQ: France, China, Russia, Iran, Libya, Germany? Should I go on?

Great post Jimmyb! I think Chetry like Paula Zahn made a huge mistake. I guess maybe CNN is more prestigious when it comes to bragging to your liberal friends but Fox kills CNN in the ratings.
