Jim I do not know when you posted this comment about OBEX ac cingular ...but I learned AFTER buying the le 8300 through VERIZON that verizon also does not supoort obex. My whole idea was to take a photo w/8300 and transfer it to my new tablet pc via Bluetooth. I guess not. If you figured out how to do this I would greatly appreciate the feed back
Thank You

Just got burned by Verizon with the bluetooth technology. Understand (directly from Motorola) that Cingular has not requested cell phone manufactures to disengage OBEX, which is the driver necessary to transfer files from PDA's, etc. to the cell phone.

Alex,
This is great news. I'll put out a couple of posts in my various blogs to try to get information flowing your way. Good luck with Mac N Cell.

Jim,
I found your site while searching for a reader if the LG 325 worked with a Mac. I started a site: Mac 'n' Cell, that tries to do what you wanted:
"I would like to find a good site that lists Phone X for Carrier Y works with iSync, works with DUN, etc."
I've only got a few phones under my belt, and I'm focusing on the latest ones. It's small and humble, but you might want to give the site a look:
http://www.macncell.com
ps-->I'd appreciate it if anyone who got the LG 325 to work with iSync could let me know. I've read a number of places that a software upgrade to the phone enables iSync, but I don't have confirmation of it.
Thanks!

Hi Zachary.
I hope that Sprint / Verizon et al change their ways. They have been pushing back on Apple and Motorola over tunes on your phone. Apple wants to let you upload you songs for free over bluetooth. Sprint and Verizon want to charge you.
Bastards!
I would like to find a good site that lists Phone X for Carrier Y works with iSync, works with DUN, etc.

Jim, thanks for the rant. I am miffed beyond words. Why do I keep writing? I don't even know. iSync is a beautiful thing. And Bluetooth is a beautiful thing. It hurts that they're both so hobbled. Just got my PM325. Oh well. Sprint, please change things!

That's another take and has some weight. The phone companies are worried about piracy of ring-tones so they cripple bluetooth. I agree with the author that they could limit the areas you could access - calendar, address book, photos... if they wanted to.
Thanks for the link, Darkstar M3

I'm watching to see if someone does develop a hack for the bluetooth. On other devices, they have found all the files installed on the phone.
We'll see. Maybe Sprint will get a clue.

I have a Nokia 6225, which lacks bluetooth, but syncs up beautifully over IR with Lotus Notes and Outlook (I use both). I can also transfer my pictures IR over to my PC. I don't think money was the sole motivating factor for ommission of OBEX from the LG phone.
But I do agree that it _soooo suxxxxx_ that this phone has such a pathetic implementation of Bluetooth. I may very well return the LG I just got because of it. :-(
