i find it extremely offensive.
the bible is fiction, jesus is a joke, god is a fable.
when holiday celebrations include my beliefs, maybe then it will be less offensive to see yours up in lights. but to date, it's been all jeezusjeezusjeezus. it's about time we put an end to it -- city hall is not a church.

We can not raise children to be decent and ethical citizens without some reference to the cuture from which our ethos arose. therfore, I see no harm in the occasional reference to a Christian theme. I think that trying to maintain our civilization in a sterile, cultureless void is a mistake and also impossible.

Anon: "i find it extremely offensive."
Why? The phrase is not "follow Jesus or else you stupid unbeliever." And why isn't the word "holidays" - derived from "holy day" - offensive? And how are people singing carols hurting you?
"the bible is fiction, jesus is a joke, god is a fable."
Am I supposed to be offended by that or feel the way you do about "Merry Christmas?"
"when holiday celebrations include my beliefs, maybe then it will be less offensive to see yours up in lights."
If your beliefs are secular, then they already are and are taking over.
"but to date, it's been all jeezusjeezusjeezus."
I don't know why that is during CHRISTmas.
"it's about time we put an end to it -- city hall is not a church."
No one ever said it was or that it should be, and displaying the phrase "Merry Christmas" doesn't make it one. Please learn what a church and state sponsorship of religion are. Also, city hall is not a tool for the forcing of secular
