Dr. Jacobsen was actually a professor of mine at Northern. It upsets me that this is the kind of publicity my alma mater is drawing. I absolutely support freedom of speech, but it's women like her who don't use it properly. If she wanted to express her opposition to the display's message, she should have erected her own display or held a rally. Destruction of property is not in spirit with the philosophy of freedom of speech. Frankly, I'm not surprised this happened. Dr. Jacobsen often used the classroom as a forum for her own political agenda, and frequently strayed from discussion of the texts. When I heard that a professor had done this, her name was the first that came to mind.
