RE: The "Pro-Lifers for Obama" nonsense....
Yeah, I don't get it. I had a bit of a debate with Jen R (of Turn The Clock Forward) on this very subject, but I just had to back off before I disgraced myself by screaming insults. There's just no logic to the position.
I can understand a pro-lifer who supports Obama out of ignorance. In other words, they don't really know how bad Obama is for Life, and they end up supporting him for other reasons. However, once a pro-lifer has had Obama's ardently pro-abortion position explained to her, this possibility vanishes like smoke.
I can also understand a liberal pro-lifer (like Jen R) who supports Obama for all of his liberal social positions and hopes that he'll moderate his pro-abortion advocacy once he takes the oath of office. I believe such liberal pro-lifers are misguided (at best), but history will show which of us is right.
But I simply cannot understand a pro-lifer who knows Obama's position on abortion and still claims that supporting him is somehow pro-life. That's just nonsense. Either such pro-lifers have a very different definition of "pro-life" than I do, or they're simply lying.

Les Prouty writes, "Many people are declaring the election of Barack Obama as the fulfillment of Martin Luther King’s dream. It is exactly the opposite. ...
Perhaps in our minds discrimination based on race is now buried, though I doubt it. But how we should be ashamed that millions of little babies in our country are being discriminated against and having their lives snuffed out simply because they reside in a womb. Who is their advocate? Who will be their president? Who will ensure their right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?’ ...
Certainly not President Obama."

The way to understand pro-lifers for Obama is this: Every morning, look in the mirror and say "Banning abortion will NOT prevent abortions" one hundred times.
