Hey Josh, good thoughts. (Pun intended.)
The only thing I have to say is that to get Beltre, the Twins would likely have to ship Seattle a 3B of their own--likely Luke Hughes. That would probably seal the deal, and with the type of prospects those are you could probably get the Mariners to send the Twins some cash as well.

Josh, really insightful. I don't think any of those moves are completely unrealistic.
I was sold on Glen Perkins last night against the Rangers. I think that the rest of the baseball world is taking note that the Twins have one of the most talented (and youthful) rotations in the bigs.
Plus, lets not forget that they still have Liriano and one of the gems of the Santana trade (Humber) down on the farm.

Great stuff, Josh. If Minnesota can get all these deals done my opinion of Bill Smith will skyrocket.

Thanks, guys.
Jesse you may be correct. However the Mariners do have Matt Tuiasosopo who they are high on, although isn't a great defender. As much as I'd like to see this team keep both Hughes & Valencia, I think both could be possibilities to be traded.
I am more so hoping (I guess) that we trade pitching for hitting, as we still have a surplus of starting pitching and Swarzak could easily be replaced.
I guess I was more so just trying to get the point across the kind of deal (value wise) that it would take.

wow yeah,
even if it were Lahey AND Bass
for Bradford that'd be a good trade
and even if it were Swarzak, Slama and Buscher or Macri for Beltre that'd be a decent trade
And The Marlins Trade sounds Like a near perfect move for us...
Man, I hope Bill SMith sees this...

I agree that the Twins REALLY need to get Beltre, but have you read the recent strib article? They want Backer or Blackburn AND the prospects you mentioned. that is to steep a price. The twins should continue to be agressive though, adding prospects to the deal. Maybe this would get it done?
Robertson
Swarzak
Hughes
maybe even add Morales

Yeah I've heard that. Even Robertson & Hughes is pretty steep let alone Swarzak and Morales. I'd say "noway jose" if that's what they are demanding.
And noway we trade any of our young starters.
It looks like Casey Blake may be the most likely of options based on price and the fact that he just seems like a "Twins guy."

I really want Beltre. The rest is incidental IMO. The problem is, Beltre's contract expires at the end of next season. As a Scott Boras client, he will auction himself off to the highest bidder (not the Twins). The Twins should not overpay for Beltre, since he's just a rental.

Totally agree! If the price is right, go for it. But by no means overpay for a guy that you don't expect to be there longterm.
