Gravatar Seems there's ALSO a bit of disengenuity from the dems on the lack of distinction between embryonic and adult stem cells in those commercials, along with being hazy on the federal vs private.

Gravatar In addition to the fact that no Republican officeholder advocates banning stem cell research, or even federal funding of it, it's time that someone in the GOP pointed out that the position advocated by Michael J. Fox and Democrats would require the harvesting of human embryos to provide new fetal stem cells.

Gravatar They forgot to mention that Michael J. Fox admitted that he intentionally refrained from taking his meds before he testified before congress so he could make the effects of his disease more visually devastating. So the history is there and, because of that, I don't think Rush was out of line for what he said.
The Dems love to parade "untouchable" people (Cindy Shehan, the 9/11 widows, etc.) out there to spout their party line. But they come unhinged when the motives of those people are questioned.
No one wants to see Michael J. Fox ill like he is -- but he inserted himself into the political fray, so questioning his motives is fair game.

Jonathan - Rush did not apologize. What he said was that he would apologize if he was proven wrong about what he said.

Gravatar Rush did not apologize. What he said was that he would apologize if he was proven wrong about what he said.

Duly noted. Thanks for the clarification.

Gravatar Good article and great analogy! I happened to be listening to THAT episode of Rush and the MSM is doing what they always do and only reporting certain things said by their Satan,Rush Limbaugh. AND Rush predicted they would do so.
One thing I've noticed that has been absent from any reports I've seen is that adult stemcell research has been getting positive results but NOT embryonic research as stated by a series of specialists that Rush quoted. Also was the fact that none of these republican candidates were against stemcell research as MJF insisted in his commercials.

And as KG said if you're going to voice an opinion in the political arena then prepare to be challenged as to the authenticity and truth of your statements regardless of who you are.

I still don't understand why celebrities pick a side (any side)of a political debate knowing that you're going to alienate 1/2 of your fan base. Not good business.

Gravatar tnjack,

"Challenged to the authenticity and truth of your statements?"

Statements like palstocysts have souls and embryos have feelings?

BWAHAHAHA!!!!! Good one.

Gravatar PS - Hard to imagine MJF picking another side in this issue, isn't it? In fact, I'd LOVE to see one person with a debilitating disease for which a cure could be five years away come out and say "I think you should go ahead and throw away that embryo."

Gravatar kira
I think you should seek more info on those embyonic research results. I'm not sure that MJF is being told the complete truth of the research results as yet. Stemcell (adult) research has been giving some positive results but not embryonic and in fact the embryonic has several quite negative results posted. However I think that it may be omitted intentionally to further advance the pro-abortionist's stand. But that's just the "conspiracy theory" side of me.
But let's compare apples to apples. Adult stemcell research (which has a positive track record) has been endorsed by the same people that MJF has advocated to vote against.
The candidates have "approved this commercial" by MJF which is either misleading or an outright lie to the American people as to their results. Which do you think it is?
