I'm pretty sure I have seen scripts to assist in migrating comments to Wordpress. I just took a look, and found a sample. There are more, just do a search for "haloscan to wordpress" or similar search terms.

Personally, I use MovableType, and I am very happy with that platform. I know there's assistance out there for migrating comments to MovableType as well.

No matter how it goes, get rid of Slogwhore!

PS: The troll/SPAM prophylaxis on either WP or MT is out of sight!!

Henry, the problem is that the migrating of comments from Haloscan to Wordpress works quite well...IF you set up Wordpress on a host site. I'm using Wordpress' free hosting, so the technique you reference doesn't work for me. Sucks.

Hey Jonathan,

Let me know how the migration to wordpress goes. I have my own hoseted site and I cannot use it since Blogger screwed up the FPT posting process. I have been considering a migration agian since about Jan of this year but I have just been putting it off becaus I did not want to deal with the headache.

Sounds to me like I could use Henry's script and migrate over quite easily. Anyway, good luck and let me know how it goes.

I've currently got my site "parked" at a free hosting site called ByteHost. Until I work out what kind of Domain Name I want. They offer a really good free hosting package (like i'm on right now) and it will also allow you to use PHP scripting at the like. They also offer an "auto installer" for many web based applications such as Wordpress.
