what brand of carder is it? I'd be happy to look at mine and send you detail pics if that would help - it's a louet though, so my guess is (from your cracked feet and side photo) that it's not a match. but it may help...please tell me you got money back from whichever ebay seller shipped it to you...

Oh that bites. What brand is it?
Embarrassingly, I can't remember if the direction of teeth alternate. You'd think the fiber'd stick on either way.
What new piece broke off?
I know it's a lot of bother, but geez, at this point it's not a bargain anymore. It would be nice if you could send it back and get your money back. Then again, there's shipping...oi.

i'm at school right now, so i'm not sure of the direction(s) the teeth should be facing, but i remember that the space between the drums should be enough to slide in an average weight piece of paper. so- that's pretty small, but you don't want the teeth of the drums to catch on each other. i hope everything works out... good luck!

What direction does the smaller drum turn when you crank the handle?
I checked out my drum carders and the teeth all go in the same direction that you indicated. When I turn the handle clockwise the main drum also turns clockwise but the small intake drum turns counter-clockwise.

I know this is late...but think of me just trying to extend birthday joy! Happy Birthday! It sounds like it was a fun one despite the crazed yarn/sale shoppers!
