It's because you've got a new and more powerful computer than they have.

Yes, they're jealous. They still use those old punch-card machines, powered by bicycle dynamos.

Apparently those models are very unreliable, possibly because they're just lines drawn on a map by a 5 year-old child with a crayon. It's just as likely to come over here and get us. Okay, when I say 'just as likely' I'm lying, there's no chance but I'll probably stock up on tinned beans and bottled water just in case.

Knock on wood, but most forecasters here have the storm traveling well to the west of us. They're evacuating New Orleans, Biloxi, etc. Still, I see shitty weather in our future.
I don't like the idea of a Cat-4 hurricane hitting New Orleans. It's one of my favorite cities, and we all know its existence above the waterline is a figment of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' fevered imagination. I worry.

Blimey O'Reilly!
You take good care now. And lock that Mac down somewhere safe.
Is there anything us lot in the non-windy world can do to help? If we all puff together at an agreed time? Or would that just make it worse?

As Horace Greeley said, "Blow west, young man, blow west!"
Or something like that.

Okay, I'm watching MSNBC right now and I'm getting scared. Not so much for us here (although I am eyeing the big branches near the house with more than a little trepidation, considering that this is a bigger hurricane than the one that knocked all those branches down a week or so ago) but for the people on the coast.
Looks like it's heading for Mobile Bay and it is FUCKING HUGE...it looks like something out of "The Day After Tomorrow."

Just a trickle of water down the front wall. The wind was literally driving the water under the siding! But it's nothing serious. I was going to have to fix the wallpaper in that area anyway.
Just heard that my friends in Tuscaloosa are OK, too, which was more of a concern. All is well.
