the hydrogen car was my first guess too.

we might be right on that ... but at second look, the big commonality between those countries is coal. it might be that research into "clean coal" (and hydrogen cars) will allow us to live as usual for a few more decades (sarcasm).

"Clean coal" is another good guess -- since I've been out of town, I haven't seen if this has been formally announced yet...
