Gravatar Sustainable fishing and fish farming can feed the world too. Indeed, it's the only kind of fishing and fish farming that can feed the world.

Gravatar This is certainly great news and it makes sense. If you care for the land, the land will produce.

I am huge supporter of sustainable agriculture, but I want to point out one thing that seems to be misinterpreted. The reason organic yields would double or triple in developing countries is because they do not have the money or access to information that American farmers have. A news story a few months back stated that African farmers have no money for fertilizer or to buy the necessary machinery to farm "conventionally" the way American farmers do. For these farmers, organic is merely the logical way to go, but would provide higher yields only IF they have access to the same information we have (a big IF). Successful organic farming requires planning and thought.

Switching an American farm that uses the newest technology to organic will actually lower the yields. You did not say anything incorrect, but I want to point out why organic could yield such a higher rate in developing countries, and also that conventional supporters can still say their technology beats out organic yield-wise, even if only by a little. Of course, conventional agriculture requires so many more oil-based inputs that having higher yields is a moot point.
