Louis la Vache is pleased that The Gorecal (Albert the Prince of Dorkness) has been called out on the inconvenient truth about how much energy he consumes in his varous residences. Typical leftist hypocrisy!

Great points. For those of us who still love movies (or maybe I should say, the "idea" of movies), the Oscarcast would be profoundly depressing - if we were foolish enough to take it seriously. It's because the liberals do precisely that - take it seriously - that it's become so boring.

You're so right, rd...liberals are dull as dirt. Good thing they are so good at finding each other and making a niche for themselves in H'wood, or they'd be very lonely.
I find it quite difficult to maintain relationships with friends and family who don't share my anit-leftist/anti-H'wood sentiments. It's so much work to not want to either beat them upside the head for buying into it, or beat myself up if I ever start letting their depression rub off on me!

Thanks for all the comments! I too relished in the reports about Gore's energy consumption. I felt less guilty for leaving the lights on when I leave the house. In general, I've always found that the people with the best sense of humor love life, embrace it, and are able from there to observe it intelligently. If your life is guided by fear, then how in the world can you have a good sense of humor?

Interestingly enough, Will Ferrell pointed to this fact during the actual Oscars. He and Jack Black did an entire musical number about how noone's lonelier than a comedian on Oscar night.
I think you've hit on something with the extraction of God being the source of cynicism... but I think it's even deeper than that. Once you've averted your eyes from the source of Hope and Salvation, can anything but hopelessness and despair remain?

Most of my friends happen to be liberals, which makes it pretty much impossible to make political jokes that I find funny. Liberals can be pretty funny when they're talking about anything other than politics. I usually try to manage the conversation away from politics unless I'm among a group of people where I have no control. Then I just put up with the dull and tasteless political humor, being careful not to roll my eyes in front of everyone.
