Gravatar What a great post. I'm going to have to spend some time following all your links. I did check out the new Norah G. link -- and most of the designs don't do anything for me. Except the first one: Anhinga. I LOVE that one. Still, it's a lot of $$$ for one pattern.

Now I'm off to look at the Salinger story and check out the new Knitty.

Gravatar Good luck seaming! I hope it goes well with the new yarn. Thanks for the Norah Gaughan links -- you're right: the Blackstone Tweed patterns are great! I'm already ready for fall ...
I was also a little underwhelmed by the new Knitty. Maybe summer is just a difficult season for knits?

Gravatar I've been feeling that way about Knitty for a while now... there has always been this feeling of discontent surrounding it and designers - much like IK. Have fun with your seeming, it's the part of any project that takes me the longest.

Gravatar I am in the throes of seaming grouchiness. I feel your pain.

Gravatar Another interesting blog post Jodi! I always like your recipe write-ups and I checked out all the knitting patterns too.

Gravatar PS The photo of your kitties is so cute. I love it when cats sit/sleep together. I ordered Alice a new laser pointer off of eBay (her paypal account was down, which is why I had to order it) and it arrived today... she was out of breath within a couple of minutes of ripping around the apartment chasing the light.

Gravatar Mmm... Rhubarb crumble...

Of course all the best people are from Minnesota.

Gravatar Seaming, such a joy. But at least it's the last little bit to do. (Other than weaving in. Also joyful.)

So many new patterns! So many WIP's.

Cute cat photo!

Gravatar Nice! I was *just* looking for homemade sauce recipes! I'll have to try this one!

Have fun doing knitterly things about town.
Some day I'll be back.
Real tired right now, though. I'm usually ready for bed by 7 these days.

Gravatar Being a Minnesotan who lives in the chicagoland area- I do have to agree that people from mn are the best!

Gravatar I have to make some Rhubarb Crumble now! Yum! And Nina is such a great shop - I have only been there once but it is memorable - enjoy that!

Gravatar good luck with the seaming - it will be worth it!

Felt the same about the new NG patterns/Knitty but loved the berocco tweediness.

Homemade Life is next on the ILL queue.

Gravatar Good luck with the seaming. I had trouble with the tweed yarn I used on the CP Hoodie so I know what you are talking about.

You might like the blog Class and Coffee if you don't already know it. Sarah is a knitter and posts lots of recipes as she is learning to cook. Maybe one day I'll be tempted to dust off the cookbooks?

I agree with you on Knitty. I was very disappointed with the lack of sweater patterns, and PopKnits summer issue didn't seem to offer much either. I think the other commenters are right that being able to self-publish must be easier and more satisfying to the designers.

Gravatar I read "Catcher" three times but didn't appreciate Holden Caulfield until I read the book as an adult. Isn't he every teenager, and probably some adults too??

Gravatar Good luck with the seaming!

I agree on the knitty, it's very blah. I think that the editors are bringing patterns in that are 'new' and/or 'funky' and aren't thinking so much about wearability.

Gravatar The new Norah Gaughan was a bit odd. It's like somewhere in the past 6 months or so they decided that the new look was going to be big jackets (fine, but I don't want to make them) or sweaters with built in bibs.

Gravatar I do so admire your ability to successfully work toward your education, explore your varied interests and carry on with your crafting.

Plus, you've got adorable felines
