Thank You for posting Gina! Just to clairify. I never gave permission to be included on an international website. In the late -90ties, when living in another part of Sweden i gave permission to be included on a swedish website. At my request my name was removed several years ago from the swedish site. One of my students by accident found out I am still included on an international site claiming to be updated may 2009. I have not worked or lived in the area and hospital menshioned on the international site since 2002. The last weeks I have tried to get my name and titles removed..... so far in vain. Following the two websites:
Swedish site:
http://tmdoctors.info/refgrupp.htm
and the international site "updated" may 2009:
http://tmdoctors.info/eng/refgreng.htm

OK, Thanks!
Corrected on both counts.. Bjarne's former position, and Abbot and Costello (instead of Three Stooges).
Bjarne, please keep us updated on these comments. Maybe public exposure will expedite action.

I worked in the TMO press department for a few years and we always kept up to date with who wanted (or not) to be on the promo material.
We consideered it very bad form to keep people on when they weren't interested as it could lead to problems for them and consequently for us!
We were always swift to remove anyone embarassed by us so I can only assume this is being done out of incompetence rather than the TMO feeling the need to dishonestly swell the number of PHDs on the site.
These aren't generally very technical people we 're talking about here.

'These aren't generally very technical people we 're talking about here.'
They are certainly tech-savvy enough to swoop on any mention of TM on non affiliated sites and immediately threaten legal action if the item is not sufficiently pro TM. No foot dragging or lack of competence then.

Hi Bjarne,
I read the front page article about your troubles with the website listing, and I about fell off my chair. I saw that you had worked at the hospital in Karlskrona, a mere hamlet, yet I feel as if I know the area well.
Many years ago, my grandparents' families (Santesson & Carlson) both immigrated from Karlskrona to the USA. An internet search on "Santesson" turns up quite a few references to Karlskrona. Also, there is a published Santesson family geneology book, which I have, and it chronicles hundreds of years of Santessons living in Karlskrona. I also personally visited Karlskrona in 1990.
I realize that you are no longer there in Karlskrona, but nonetheless, I find it rather amazing to see how small the world can be at times. Our interconnectedness occurs at many different levels.
Gina and I had a similar experience in that she knew the exact area where I lived in San Diego because he son had lived nearby to me. Even the coffee-shop where I suggested we meet turned out to be a place where Gina had been previously with her son. Again, a strange coincidence.
My apologies for being absent here for the last few months. I have been busy with too many "have to do" things, so I have had to wean myself away from the joyful past time of posting. However, I always keep up with the front-page blog, and I absolutely could not resist commenting upon this coincidence.
Tack!

Thanks Bjarne and Laurie --- B. Congrats! Things seem to happen quicker when using this website...Yes, "they" must be listening! Karlskrona....I get so dreamy-eyed thinking of the nice summer I spent in Sweden. Now, my children (twins, aged 10) are in a Scandinavian Dance Class for kids --- and I'm trying to outfit them with "folkdrakt"
L., Yes, I do miss conversing with my cyber-friends friends, and I shall return. I do enjoy your blog articles, so keep at it!

Bjarne..how appalling that they were making use of your name. I hope it didn't harm you professionally.
One good thing...at least now when anyone puts TM into a search engine, this site comes up immediately. People can make informed choices.

Karina forgot to mention why she and I met in that coffee shop last year -- we both loved someone who needlessly died in the TMO, after having given her entire family trustfund to Maharishi's various programs.
Let's celebrate our recovery, and using our shared history to make lemonade from lemons.
Tak! Gracias! Grazie! Merci! Terimakasi!

Yes indeed, Gina, it is wonderful to share our collective bittersweet memories of wonderful times and friends from our TM "daze." Even the painful outcomes are good to know about. I think sometimes about an "ex-teacher" registry" for all of us who wonder.
BTW, did anyone else see the PBS special last night about the Rig Veda in the Story of India? The narrator was on the linguistic trail of soma juice. "Funnily," the story is not the same one Mahesh told. Here's a link to a segment ---
http://www.pbs.org/thestoryofindia/
It is a six-part series that premiered in Jan '09, but the first time I saw it. Anyone else see it?

Bjarne:
Now you can get back to the important things in life, like winning another tennis championship.
How do you stay so young?
Must be your practice of TM.

Hello Celebrity Physicians,
I'm just guessing, but I bet Bjarne wins tennis championships the way most other athletes do.......practice, practice, and more practice.
As far as Bjarne retaining his youth well enough to win competitions, well there are many others (presumably non-TMers) who probably have him beat... Here's a sampling from the Guinness Book of World Records.
The oldest couple to run a marathon were Shigetsugu Anan (Japan) aged 83 yr 11 days and his wife Miyoko Anan (Japan) 78 yr 71 days at the Ibusuki Nanohana Marathon, Japan on 13 January 2008.
Here's a very small sample of Senior Athletes, up to their 90's who compete in the track and field 100 meter sprint.
http://www.mastersathletics.net/
...8100metresw.htm
Check out the Master Athletes' website www.masterathletics.net for thousands more senior athletes aged 30 to 100 years old, in a multitude of sports.
I'm sure few of the thousands of international names listed there are TMers!
Or just read your local paper ---- there always seems to inspiring stories of youthful seniors.
Once again, the TMO repeatedly confuses cause and effect. In my experience, TMers were adverse to exercise because it might "raise their metabolism." As a whole, I found TMers to be an unhealthy lot--- which is why Ayurvedic medicine was such a moneymaker for the TMO.
Look to your dear departed Maharishi. My relatives (non-meditators!) lived longer than Mahesh did!

Bjarne, Do you know any of the other "Physicians for TM" identified on the same page?
If contacted, perhaps at least one or two other doctors would want their names removed. Working together might create more pressure for the TMO to stop using people's names after permission has been clearly withdrawn.
Second suggestion: If you can find the name of an attorney who represents the Swedish TMO you might have some luck. The organization's attorney can direct the TMO to do the right thing, and they might listen.
Good Luck!

Thank You for advise Karina! I really dont care that much. The main thing was to expose the stupidity, and Gina helped in an exellent way in that process. As I stated recently on this blog, most of the time I try "to live a life and not to win a war". When that is said and done, I must admit I enjoy sometime, like Betty, to spank extraordinary naughty and stupid boys.

Now you're talkin', Bjarne! Spanking bad boys and silly girls can be fun. You just have to be willing to take your licks in return. I have to say that I have been benefitted from being spanked here at TMFree myself. There are too few physicians like you around here, Bjarne. Wish we had a lot more of your quality.

I agree with the Vickie and ?? (Karina? Deborah?) It would be great to have a (voluntary) listing of initiators, or courses, so we could link up with old friends and share old experiences.
Ex.:
Me: Initiated New York City 1971,
Humboldt 1972
Punta Umbria, 1973

Oops...got cut off...That sort of listing. I've spent 20 years trying to track down old friends, and here on TMFB I've only found 1 person I know in common with someone here (a mutual friend of me and Sudarsha named Walter Day), and a few overlaps (like John K. seems to have known my boyfriend from "boyfriend in the closet" fame - tales of sneaking my boyfriend into the all-female ATR. If you want to hear that story again, just ask.) and apparently I worked with Gina's mom in Fairfield but can't remember her, and crossed paths about the same time as Karina in Livingston Manor NY, and Sudarsha taught my TTC course in La Antilla Spain, but since there were 2000 on the course, he doesn't remember me....)

We could link the site, or contact info onto TMFree.

No, not MIU classmates, because some of us never set foot in MIU. (Unless Arosa or Rishikesh or Poland Springs etc. counts as MIU.)
Also, listing would have to have some degree of anonymity to it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to set this up?

The research was carried out by the Medical College of Wisconsin with the Maharishi University in Iowa.
It was funded by a £2.3m grant from the National Institute of Health and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Dr Robert Schneider, of the Maharishi University of Management in Iowa, said: 'This is the first controlled clinical trial to show that long-term practice of this particular stress reduction programme reduces the incidence of clinical cardiovascular events, that is heart attacks, strokes and mortality.'
I am asking: carried out by whom? Controlled by who?
There is something rotten in the state of.....
