Latino Issues :: A Conservative Blog

Argubly, the church actually can be said to be at least morally consistant on the issue that people have the right to a better life regardless of where they come from.

However, following that principle, why are we not hearing the church leaders in this country openly denouncing corruption and income disparity in Mexico that lead the need for people to leave their country? Why aren't they working with their counterparts in Mexico to actively expose the issues that leads to the situation we have today?

May be that is because the US media is not reporting it. Or perhaps more likely, their stance on immigration is less based on moral principles than other practical reasons.

Maybe it is just easier to "fight" for those people who is already here and leave the problem of Mexico for the church of Mexico. Or perhaps, bishops and other church leaders knows their customers want from them.

are simply stay a Why not? Who knows.

Re: Your statement in Spanish

Apúntelo! Gooool!

Right on target!

I really think you underestimate the vast majority of people who are out there protesting.

I have nothing wrong with the marches being highly organized and somewhat orchestrated. These marches need to be like that. People need to be safe. I don't think it's something that the extreme left is supporting.

I think members of the clergy who are out there are there because they know the Sensenbrenner bill is not a solution. They know that since the last enforcement only immigration reform in 1996 there have been many deaths at the border. People are still crossing, but people are dying.

Majority? No. I don't think so. Whatever you may think of the Sensenbrenner bill, mass rallies was not the solution. As far as deaths in the desert, who's fault is that? Certainly not congress?

Ever immigrant who dies in the desert is responsible for his or her own life! Sad. Tragic. Self-inflicted.

Yes, people are still crossing because of liberal left-wing policies that continue to encourage illegal immigration, despite the best attempts.

What ever happened to the idea of self-responsability? Oh, right...you wouldn't know about that, since everything is the government's responsability.
