Awesome post...nice job...Keep this up... Many of us are tired of being linked by default to racists... I myself find the exploitation deplorable and immoral. It needs to stop.

Despite the fact that you told me (correctly) that is was your blog and keep my rants to myself I have returned with some trepidation. I am a librarian and a great reader of blogs. and you did a great job presenting both sides. I am not sure they are being served well by these rally organizers but like everyone else I am torn because here in New York their work ethic and courtesy are legendary.But NYC is an odd place. One day 400,000 Domincans show up, then 200,000Koreans, a huge inflow of Africans and new Chinatowns in every borough. How can we in NYC suddenly decide to send back only Mexicans. We's have to send back about one fourth of the city as well.

One historical point: Nelson's defeat of the combined French and Spanish fleets at Trafalgar was perhaps the key event leading to Latin American independence. Spain was subsequently invaded by France, but England's ultimate victory ensured that Spain and France were not able to maintain/regain power in Latin America. The Royal Navy saw to Latin American security for many, many years.

Consequently, Latin America owes a considerable debt to both the US and to England. While no doubt the US $ has significantly outweighted the Brit Pound in the region, the importance of the early English actions are hard to top.

I've seen how Mexicans treat Central Americans trying to get to the USA. No Central American told me he was abused or exploited as badly by any American as he was at the hands of the average Mexican.

I think anyone who wishes to enter the USA comes with the hopes of a better life for himself and his children. But if you want that dream does it make any sense to try and recreate the situation you fled when coming to the USA?
