I remember the post. If it wasn't the first SVC one I saw it was thereabouts. I didn't know about Dirk Wears... and it was a revelation. Which is the other great thing about these blogs - passing on great music. Keep it up.

Gravatar Dearest Joe,
You are far too kind, I never wrote about this album anywhere near as eloquently as you.

My introduction to Dirk was almost identical to yours, except I was 11, most of it still went right over my head though until later years.
This post has made me run off and dig out the album, although it doesn't take much digging out to be honest, it's always very near the top of my most recently played pile.
I've been thinking about what my most played album of all time is, and without a doubt it's Dirk Wears White Sox, and yep, it sounds as thrilling today as it did when I first heard it 28 years ago.... ouch!

A wonderful post about a truly truly great album.

Many thanks.

Simon

Gravatar I wonder where my Antsingles are now... I recall hearing Whip in my Valise for the first time aged about 15 and thinking, Hmm, this is... different... I can't say as how I can put the blame for my subsequent development on to Adam but I think he played his part! Excellent post. Looking forward to a lot more.

Gravatar Someone in Vietnam googles "whitenoise" and finds my blog. Out of curiosity, I follow the trail back and find this one. The internet is a wonderful place.

Adam & the Ants never really did much on this side of the ocean. I remember "Ant Music" and "Goody Two Shoes". There was a solo effort of a completely different style in the '90s, but the title escapes me. I guess I'll have to do some research.

Interesting place. I'll have to return soon and have a better look around.

cheers

Gravatar Thanks for these - I like the popppy stuff, but the pre-Pironi stuff, like Zerox and Young Parisians does it far more for me.

Spoilt Victorian Child was definitely one of the introductions to the blogs i had three years ago, and eventually led to me setting up my own, two years later!

Gravatar Nice post!
Have a look at my Ants blogsite, with many interviews with Marco Pironni!
