Gravatar Leaving aside a little tremor of worry about making rock artists into some sort of divinely inspired Dionysian figures I have to agree with you and provide a supporting statement from poor old Tony Wilson. When Wilson first saw Joy Division (as Warsaw?) he was struck by the fact that they evidently had "no choice but to be up there making their music."

I'm less worried by UK music where's there's always the possibility that some bunch of malcontents like the Happy Mondays may appear than by the cottage industry that is US indie rock where being in a Yo La Tengo inspired band, drinking soy lattes, wearing spreadshirt tees and blogging on yoru macbook seems have become systematised into some faintly bohemian activity, about as radical and threatening as being a graohic designer.

And Theme is a monster. Keep it up.
