I'm so glad the Republicans are "respecting the young couple's privacy" and not using them for polictial gain.
Fucking douchebag hypocrites.

This could help the GOP. They are showing their family values by supporting this young couple. The republicans have no new policy ideas so their campaign is about something new, this new american family.
I just fear that this young couple's struggle will galvanize the GOP base to vote for them thus keeping the republicans in power and not really changing anything.
So if McCain wins will there be a X-Mas wedding in Washington at the White House? I guess the tax payers money will pay for the wedding.

The issue isn't that they have family support - anyone decent would support their kid in this situation.
The issues are Sarah Palin's failed policy of abstinence-only sex ed, "family values" and evangelical morality.
If everyone focuses on that, Bristol's situation becomes a poster for failed policies, rather than the Lifetime movie the Repigs want it to be.

ok....now I am convinced.
Levi and Bristol will be married in mid October, carried live, probably on the Today show.
The question is what venue.....Rockefellar Center would normally do, but its too New York and likely to bother Sarah's biggest fans. I am guessing Branson, MO the likely location.

David from Toronto, I've thought the same thing. Everyone is writing about the baby, but the bigger story is that the lives of these two young people have been changed forever, in ways they did not choose, simply because they didn't use a condom.
We should shift the focus to the parents, and the sex education courses, that fail to talk to kids about the real consequences of having sex, and don't inform them about effective birth control options and STD protection.

I don't want One Observatory Circle to be featured on 'Cops' or to have any likeness to the 'Beverly Hillbillies'.
Something tells me the Palin Clan would put a painted plywood cutout of a granny exposing her polka dot underwear in the yard...maybe right next to the Virgin Mary Shrine made out of an old bathtub. The kitchen would then be redecorated with a 'Country Geese' and plaid curtain motif.
Oh, the horrors!

Respect the young couple's privacy right up to the moment they step out on the stage with mommy after her speech . . . yeah. He's "no longer enrolled" at Wasilla High School, but he hasn't apparently graduated; she's, what, a senior? So unless mommy really gets the book deals and dedicates a fair amount of royalty money to her, she's going to spend the rest of her life alternating between welfare and slinging hash at the Wasilla diner while "doesn't want kids" is off huntin' and fishin' and shootin' shit and maybe -- MAYBE -- earning some child support money. Great values you apparently teach your kids, Sarah. This really shows us the extremely high level of your qualifications to run as VP.

Well, whatever these poor children do, the GOP should shut the fuck up about the sanctity of marriage. This one will last about a year and will harm greatly both of their lives, as well as the child's life. Sanctity of marriage, my ass.

Yes, leave the kids alone as I don't need pics of Bristol and Levi. However, mom needs to explain how abstinence only worked in this situation. How many 15, 16 and 17 year olds will become pregnant and have their lives forever changed because of a "moment of weakness" and no resources to protect against an unwanted pregnancy. Bristol is lucky that her rabidly evangelical mother is also an aggressively self-serving politician who, because of her freakishly misplaced status in the GOP, must now embrace the child and the mother-to-be in order to appear loving and forgiving.
