Gravatar Thanks for posting this. I've got a copy of this icon in my icon corner, and although I find it a very compelling depiction of Christ the asymmetry has sometimes put me off a bit, because I couldn't understand why it was there.

Gravatar I too have a copy which I set up in my cubicle at work. I seldom pray to it but the fact of its being there helps mitigate the bad work vibes.

Gravatar A wonderful reminder of why I first chose this icon for the front page of my blog and have kept it for the two years since I started blogging.

Gravatar Wow, there's nothing like this icon to bring out the dilettantes. The left/right jazz is oh, so Anglican. Oh, so not Orthodox.

Gravatar A quick look at the writer's weblog confirms the usual situation. A so-so amateur painter "discovers" icons. He paints with no instruction in theology outside Anglicanism, and of course invents his own saints (ala gregory of Nyssa in San Francisco or Robert Lenz), writes extensively on things he doesn't understand. Pretty sad. Also pretty insulting to the Orthodox.

Gravatar You need to get out more often, Bob.

Gravatar Reality is uncomfortable, isn't it?
