As long as any class is an elective, I don't care if the class is taught by a priest himself.
Congress shall make no law... If no one is forcing kids to go to a class, then by all means, have it. 
But in any case, that's not what this class is, it would seem. As a religious studies degree holder from a /public/ university, I think the real question is why that outfit for the separation of Church and State isn't up in arms at every public campus across this country that has a religion department.

Give me your opinion, Jacob, now that you mention religious studies. I've tended to have a generally negative impression regarding Religious Studies as an academic discipline, under the general theory that most college theologians have the same effect on religious institutions as professional ethicists have on morals. Specifically, a degenerative effect.
With the exception of a couple college courses that I slackered my way through, all my catechetical training has been self taught or taken place under the guidance of parish priests, so I simply don't know enough to form a proper opinion on that score.
