Hey I'll take feedback. Thanks, Katherine! I'm kind of asking for conflict with these "ruminations" and don't mind critical comments at all.
I'm sure I do have an elitist attitude at time too. But that would be a wrong attitude.
HOWEVER, there are some things I'll draw the line on. Some things are so core to the Christian faith, that I will call them down. I shouldn't do this as an elitist, but as a faithful teacher of God's truth. For instance, the "health/wealth" gospel is terrible doctrine and I don't mind calling it out as such. However, even though I disagree with some Orthodox practices such as some aspects of the litergy I am cautious to call them out. Certainly I would be VERY cautious to call them out in a public leadership forum.
Ack... I have to run to take the kids to AWANA!
Now that I'm back let me clarify a tad...
What I meant is I'm sure you guys are right in stating I'm sometimes dogmatic in my attitudes. There's a fine line between taking a courageous stand and fighting battles not needed. Probably I'm on the wrong side too often.
I don't have a problem in being "elitist" in claiming faith in Christ as necessary for salvation. Some things are necessarily narrow and if you want to call that "elitist" you can, but then so was Jesus. But when fellow Christians start trumpeting their superiority to other Christians... well, that just bugs me.

I had Bradley Nassif, one of the contributors, for a class on Eastern Orthodoxy in seminary at TEDS. I seem to recall him thinking the same thing you are saying with how Evangelicalism generally regards Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism!
