Gravatar kreider takes the view that the sins increase in intensity throughout chapter one, so that the sins in the vice-list (including "disobedient to parents") are actually more heinous than homosexuality. this would intensify the point you're highlighting. although, i wonder if that view would claim that homosexuality is more heinous than idolatry? (don't know if i could go there)


Gravatar Interesting thought, Tyson. I wonder too on that view. I haven't read any commentaries on this, but at the least the progression is from general illustrations to a litany of examples of sin. It builds in intensity, sucks you in, and then has the huge twist at the beginning of ch. 2.
