Gravatar Story's changed now.

Voters 'are confused by Labour'
Voters are confused about what Labour stands for, says minister John Denham as a poll puts the party on 23%

It's those pesky voters being too fick to know what's good for em!

Gravatar no, they are realising just what they stand for - hence 23%. I shudder to think why it's that high.

Gravatar imagine the headline if the poll ratings were the reverse...

typical bbc new liebore spin.

Gravatar surprise surprise... there's no HYS on this..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talki...int/ default.stm

Gravatar ho ho ho... now we have nick robinson spinning for the one eyed snot gobbler...

you couldnt make it up...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/ nickr...opening_up.html

Gravatar So Labour have to admit that they have made mistakes - no doubt their idea of a mistake will not be the same as everyone elses. They have been an absolute disaster for this country and no owning up to few mistakes will make any difference.

You can understand why Denham is in a panic - he would probably lose his seat.

"The number crunchers have revealed that if the vote achieved by the Tories yesterday was repeated at the General Election, Labour ministers Ed Balls, Jacqui Smith, James Purnell, John Hutton, Caroline Flint, Ruth Kelly and John Denham would lose their seats. If that is not motivation enough, nothing is. The thought of seeing Balls' eyes bulging with anger and incomprehension at losing his seat is just too good."

I expect lots of infighting within Labour - but it won't be reported by their media wing.

Gravatar "Johnson hails new NY partnership "
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/engla...don/ 7390915.stm

But why is the BNP mentioned and a picture of demonstrators. It is not relevant at all. This should be a different "story"

I think it was archduke who said that it seems as if the BBC want people to associate Boris Johnson with the BNP.

Gravatar Just look at this
"The exchange programme is designed to share best practices in government innovation, London's mayor said.

Outside City Hall there were protests as the BNP's Richard Barnbrook entered to sit on the first meeting of the newly-elected London Assembly.

The Innovation Exchange Programme will look at transparency and accountability, efficiency, transport, policing, education and skills and environmental policy. "
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/engla...don/ 7390915.stm

That parargraph in the middle has no relation to the paragraph before and after.

Why is it there?

Gravatar And even reading about the BNP "protest" it is not even news.

"He was confronted by a 17-strong group of Socialist Party supporters. "

"17 strong"?

Gravatar "
I think it was archduke who said that it seems as if the BBC want people to associate Boris Johnson with the BNP.
Jon | 05.09.08 - 7:17 pm "

indeed. its going to be a very common tactic during boris's mayorilty...

its as predictable as the sun rising in the morning. that is how they will attack him.

i hope somebody in the Tories is advising Boris about this (no doubt they are...)

Gravatar This looks like another hidden message in what is supposed to be an unbiased report on a by-election

"On the campaign trail in Crewe "

See the picture with Labour supporters and a banner saying "Vote Labour".

Gravatar ZaNu Lab is toast. Heh heh! Let's take some bets on how low their support eventually sinks -- 18 percent? 15 percent? 10 percent?

Gravatar hence 23%. I shudder to think why it's that high.

Supporters of the Scottish Raj, plus Muslims?

Gravatar to be fair - i think you'll find that a lot of non-radical, "normal", muslims are flocking to the conservatives. they are FUMING at ZanuLab types sucking up to the Islamists.

my bet is that ZanuLab will be the third party after the next election.

Gravatar Now that would be a spectacular outcome, just so I could rub it in the faces of all those labour supporters living around here.

'Course a lot of them might well be voting lib dem this time... my 92 year-old great aunt voted lib dem after a lifetime of labour voting. It's actually shocking how quickly they've managed to destroy their own heartland votes.

Gravatar amazing archonix... they really are in full on meltdown. its no wonder that Frank Field can make a power grab - he has nothing to lose by doing so.

Gravatar Frank Field is an old fasioned socialist - the type who used to reflect the views of their constituants - not the "champagne socialists" who are the kind who press their political agenda on the people against their will.

Actually the old socialists like Frank Field are more in tune with the population than Call me Dave.

Gravatar jon -> thats the thing.. even a right wing libertarian like myself might be tempted to vote for an English nationalist anti-EU type like Frank Field.

there's a populist streak with frank - in ireland , he'd be a member of the Fianna Fail party.

in fairness to Frank, at least you know what you are getting. he's one of the VERY rare breed of politicos who is nationalist, but also wears his politics on his arm.

even though i am not english, i really admire the likes of Frank Field who manage to stand up for English folks, without being all BNP. and a "non bnp" nationalism is badly needed. nationalism should not be a dirty word. we all know that.

its not fucking wrong being proud of England. i wish more English i know werent ashamed of their own country... it sickens me. (and there's me , an irish nationalist , trying to "big up" what it means to be English , to English friends... i've lost count of the amount of times i've had to do that... and no.. thats no lie....)

Gravatar Sometimes we do better when being led by an Irishman (Wellington).
Sometimes not though (Callahan)

Gravatar archduke | 05.10.08 - 7:58 pm | I quite agree - I don't always agree with Frank Field but on the important issues he does talk sense. Maybe he needs to lead the Labour Party instead of wimpish "ministers" who care not a jot for England.

But if you think about it if a "Tory" held the same views as Frank Field he would get a lashing from the BBC and expelled from the party.

Gravatar That's because tories are all secretly mustachio-twirling villains who tie maidens to railway tracks and laugh maniacally as they eat orphan hearts and immigrant-blood soup whilst stomping on kittens. You should know this by now.

Gravatar "Blair scared of Brown - Prescott"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_po...ics/ 7394312.stm

Seems like the greedy socialists are all selling their stories to the highest bidders. And what a statement. Why if Blair was scared of Brown did he not hand over the "leadership" earlier. These toady socialists seem to think that politics is now in the same league as "celebrities". I couldn't give a toss about Prescott and his memoirs - which are probably like his life in politics full of lies and bullshit. May he rot in pieces.

Gravatar "Gordon Brown has pledged to do "whatever is necessary" to preserve the United Kingdom in the face of demands for Scottish independence."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotl...and/ 7394140.stm

Of course he will - he wouldn't be Prime Minister if he had to count on the English.

But always best when led by a half-American (Churchill)! Heh heh.
