Gravatar Hilarious line from the BBC when Brown and Darling did the big U-Turn. They said that Frank Field was now "in full retreat".

Yes, he did apologise for being a bit personal in his attacks on Brown - but it was absurd to suggest that an astute backbencher who almost single-handedly planned the campaign to make the Government reverese its policy - at a cost of over £1 billion - was in "full retreat".

The truth of the matter was that Brown and Darling were in full retreat, not Frank Field.

It is a great and costly shame that Field ran foul of Brown in the early days of NuLabour. Field had sensible plans for reforming the bl;oated welfare system, on US lines - which would have been good for the welfare recipients, and good for the country.

Instead, Brown has presided over a huge increase in the numbers of people permanently dependent on the state - most worryingly, a new underclass of feckless youths who have no incentive to earn their keep. And a separate large underclass of publicly-supported immigrants (and spouses) that has acted as a magnet for yet more immigration, as the UK was allowed by Brown to remain a soft touch.

Gravatar The first time for ages that the Conservatives have appered on the main page of the BBC Politics web page - and guess what its an attack by squrill Blears.

There is no doubt in my mind that the BBCs politics page is a platform for New Labour.

After all they never publish anything that anyone in the Conservative party say - unless it is a small paragraph in a New labour story. They don't think things like this are important:

"Police must put public safety first and end health and safety 'nonsense', say Tories"

This is from a speech by the shadow Home Secretary - from a party that is leading in opinion polls by 26% - but the BBC don't even report major speeches like this.

I do hope that the Conservative party is taking notes and when they take over the government in 2 years time, the sell off of the BBC will be the first item on their agenda.
