Gravatar just to be fair with PI, let us try to compare this show with its foreign counterparts. only if you watch other academy franchises, you would realize that pda's stage is not that good. what's with the big-pixeled screen? it doesn't look good on screen especially with close-up shots.about the stage, yes, it looks spacious but it appears flat on tv. i guess some elements must be added to make it look attractive tulad ng sa AI at sa star academy na may nakasabit ng kung anu-anong mga design.

about the hosting, toni is good but i dont like the other hosts. nikki has low energy while billy is manic which is supposedly good because it could energize the show but he has alot of mishaps with regard his hosting during live shows. the nomination night was very dry. nikki, wake up girl! you almost put me to sleep with your low-energy.

regarding the contestants, some are promising. but what's with christian last night? he was out of tune at the first part of the song, and sharp all throughout! but i like liezl's voice. and about the judges, cant they let all three judges speak at a time? people have different opinion, diba? so let all 3 judges speak up

why is the show focusing too much on the ka-ek-ekan rather on practicing for the gala night and honing their singing prowess? kaysa sinasayang nila ang oras nila sa mga parlor games pag overture, sana ibang games nalang na nag-a add up sa kakayanan nila sa pagperform. tsaka unlike nung season 1, yung mga lq ng mga magjowa/mag asawa ang focus sa primetime. kaya i would rather call PDA 2 as PBB Singing Bee Edition!hehe!

those that i have pointed out are constructive criticisms. you may disagree with me if u want

Gravatar I know you're dying to compare Pinoy Idol and Pinoy Dream Academy. Are you?

Gravatar @just an opinion: mag-blog ka kaya?

Gravatar Hi Just an onion:

Because I have known ABS to have crappy sets?

Among other things.

I really don't watch the 'reality' segments of the show so I wouldn't know what to make of the side stories you are referring to. I'd rather watch the singing part since that's what really interests me.

Gravatar @ anette

well, NOPE. i am just trying to evaluate the show as what i am usually doing to PI in other sites. i am just trying to be fair. hindi lang masyadong na e emphasize ang flaws ng pda kasi lahat naka focus sa pi.

Gravatar @ anette: if you will read my post again, i have never compared PDA to PI. ok?

Gravatar @just an opinion:

I was referring to the writer of the blog, not you.

Gravatar i actually started watching this show out of frustration at the way pinoy idol was turning out. there are no pinoy channels where we are, and we have to really look hard on the internet in order to watch pinoy idol, we build up expectations, then instead of getting better and better, the show actually got worse and worse.

regarding their first performance night: this is the beauty of the concept of PDA. you get to see the 16 pupils when they first start out: as raw talents. then you get to watch them inside the academy as they are trained and honed. then, hopefully, they give better and better performances with each succeeding performance night. this is completely opposite to Pinoy Idol contestants, who are expected to be "the complete package" already---they are expected to have what it takes already, and they just need to prove this with each competition night. That's why watching Pinoy Idol was frustrating, because mas challenged pa at mas wala pa sa comfort zone yung mga baguhan sa PDA. Mas may bagong areglo ang mga inaawit nila, tapos mas maganda pa yung areglo kesa sa Pinoy Idol. Kaya nakaka frustrate, especially being an avid Idol viewer.
