What makes pinoy idol NEVER a good show for Idol fans' eyes?
BECAUSE WE CAN'T STOP COMPARING IT TO AMERICAN IDOL.
P.S. Why didn't you complain about PDA's Father's Day theme. And oh, American Idol also does a Year You Were Born theme.

Chosera:
AI has only one personal theme, year you were born, and they use it in the start of the top 12 to introduce the finalists. Pinoy Idol has had 5 themes so far and none of them tackle a musical genre, an artist or a period.
Comparisons to American Idol are inevitable. And to make third world excuses is irresponsible and more colonial (Read Gayatri Spivak and Homi Bhabha to understand more on the politics of colonialism). If you still think that it can't be compared to American Idol then compare it to Pinoy Pop Superstar, Star for a Night and Search for a Star.
I have lots to complain about both Pinoy Idol and Pinoy Dream Academy. The former is just far from mediocre, it's stupid. For the latter, it's a question of ethics, how far you can push the envelope to embrace reality TV at the expense of exposing your contestants. But where do I begin?
For now I am just happy with the discourse. To present a critical voice and maybe ruffle some feathers to get folks to think that what we have isn't good enough. (Though it can be argued that it never is.) And that it's not helping local talent.

Isa pang dahilan para kainisan ang PI: nalalagas na magagaling nilang contestants! Katatanggal lang kay Jeni.

At natanggal si Jeni. Shiiit.
Anyway, one thing: mas nag-enjoy ba ako sa STAR IN A MILLION, at SEARCH FOR THE STAR IN A MILLION, even sa PINOY POP SUPERSTAR kesa sa Pinoy Idol.
AYos din naman ang PDA.

hey...idolphils.
I have to agree with you...Pinoy Idol was disappointing. From the stage to audio, from host to the judges...
GMA Network...masyado nyo naman tinipid ang Idol Franchise nyo,
from the set...to running time...
mas mahaba pa commercials...(kapitalista!!!).
You're right being in a third world is not an excuse..(hey! Indonesian Idol was good).
Baka kasi iniisip ng GMA na in general ng viewers nila ay di naman nakakanood ng AI kaya ok lang di to macocompare...as in bago pa sa paningin nila...(pano naman kami ni Idolphils).
But still...we can get enough of Pinoy Idol (kaya patuloy parin tayong nagboblog at nagcocoment). The contestants were all promising, THEY DESERVED A BETTER SHOW that what we see to Pinoy Idol.(pero atleast nagiimprove or maybe sa next season, a complete overhaul will be done).
and to PDA...never mind.
ako ulit...tagal bago ulit nakapagcomment,

Idol & Carlo:
Disappointing is truly an understatement. What I don't really understand is how they act as if it's really a good show and they have all this alipores circulating in forums and blogs defending the show to death. If they really want to make the show better, they should be humble and learn to accept their mistakes. Namely:
1. Raymond Guttierrez as host - if they removed Raymond, and replace him with Drew Arellano, they will double their audience immediately.
2. Wyngard Tracy
3. Jolina Magdangal
4. Louie Ignacio
5. Poor timeslot
6. Bad production staff

ang kaso, matatanggal ba nila si raymond g as host ng pinoy idol. pano naman si annabelle rama, lagot sila kay bisaya. they have to dangle a bigger carrot for raymond g in order not to rock the boat with annabelle.
another big mistake they made is not giving pinoy idol it's pinoy flavor. parang sinubukan nilang gawing american idol pero mga pinoy ang host---yun lang. sa totoo lang, mas na-feel ko pang tailored to philippine setting yung philippine idol ng abc5, at mas tasteful rin ang dating nun.
isa pang malaking bagay ay ang prestige at credibility ng judges. akala ko pa naman may ibubuga si wyngard, as he seemed ok in the auditions, tapos nung actual na wala siya halos masabing matino or constructive. sometimes jolina has a point, but lately she hasn't much to say except winner. what i couldn't believe was when all three judges praised robby's rendition of one last cry, when it was so obviously off-key in many many places. given na ang counterpart judge sa PDA ay si ryan c. at si kitchie molina, i could almost see them cringing while listening to that rendition. tapos yung tatlo pinuri pa (ogie and wyngard, to high heavens). nakakahiya.
