I know we exchanged comments about the slideshow by Rabbi Maryles' blog, but your comment, "I was the duck squirrel zebra and all the other animals in that slide show and a few that weren't" hits home. I felt the same way.
I don't teach currently, but as a parent, I found the slideshow interesting. It's tough to know which things to nurture in my own children.
BTW, I dislike school as well.


That slideshow made me cry. I did like school when I was young (although for much of it I thought it was a waste of time) and by hs I was so sick of being there it was crazy. I used to teach, and I know there were a lot of kids I couldn't reach, which is why I would never want to teach elementary school kids. That is too important. It drives me crazy when I see 19 year olds teaching kids in 1st and 2nd grade. Those grades are so important for learning the basics of reading.
