Gravatar If this is true then why are men and women sometimes separated into different study groups? Why do men get so much more class time then the women? When I watch the Rav lectures, he's lecturing to men. Does he not teach women directly? If so, then why? I hardly ever see women in the BB broadcasts...it's always men. Every aspect of BB appears to center around the men. Since 1993, my husband and I have studied together. I do not wish for this to change. Don't you think it would work well if MARRIED couples study together rather than apart? What is the real reason for this separation? Is it Jewish Custom or is this mandated by the Creator? I have great respect for Rav and I love my BB group, however my husband, son and I are having trouble understanding this aspect of the group.

Gravatar Hi Lisa! First of all my blog has moved to a new location and the link is on this page so I'd prefer you commenting there. About your question - I totally totally understand where you're coming from - when they separated the outside group I was in in Tel Aviv we all freaked out at first. But you realize very quickly that we have completely different roots and that it is really better this way - you're just going to have to take my word for it if you don't feel it yet.

He used to teach us directly but stopped over a year ago - and you're right - now everything centers around the men - and it's so much better like this - and we're seeing so much more progress with everything we're doing lately. Because the men are the real issue - we're just here to help in any way we can - I know how it sounds and feels and I've written on my blog about how it feels being a top marketing consultant etc. and suddenly 'insignificant' - but I've also explained that the guys can't do it without us to keep them on track! We are the home - their anchor sort to speak.

After the TA group split - I was in a married couples group for a while - I'm just about the only person left out of all those couples. Not only does it not let you progress it actually does the opposite - it's really best for men to only talk to each other about these things - when they talk to us their mind is on something else altogether - that's nature!

Please feel free to post about this or anything else on my new blog or write to me at josia @ kabbalah.info

The whole thing about authentic kabbalah - you're going to be going through changes all the time - the trick is seeing how quickly you adjust - when you have it down from a few months to a few seconds you know you've come a long way baby!
