Just be careful not to be too intellectually-self-aggrandizing in your socialist ideals. As an aspiring career academic, you would be one of the ones trampled first beneath the boot of the pseudo-Marxist uprising you idealistically envision...you'd be sent down, in the Cultural Revolution sense. It's the danger of over-intellecualizing public policy/political theory...
Who said anything about an uprising? I'd just like to see us offer the same social protections to our citizenry as, say, Sweden. A truly national educational system, single-payer health care, living wage guarantees... I'm not talking about Lenin, here.
