Born Again Redneck in the State of Jefferson

This post reminds me of the show Deadwood on HBO. One of the main characters comments on the coming telegraph wires into town.

I have fond memories of the only time I was in Alaska -- the airport in Anchorage -- enroute Travis AFB , Fairfield CA, via Yakota, Japan after my first Viet tour. We landed there to get an engine fixed, and to celebrate the first stateside drink, we all hit the airport bar. In 1970 a beer was $3 at the airport, but the good citizens sitting at the bar refused to allow any serviceman in uniform buy one!
They were mighty patriotic that day and it was great to be back back back I say back in the US of A.
Later, arriving on a bus into San Fran from Fairfield CA, our greeting was less friendly, as friends of Bill Clinton's and John Kerry spit at us and called us "Baby Killers" which is ironic that they are the same ones who kill babies today.
They were scum then as they are now, but the Alaskans in Anchorage in September of l970 were real Americans.

Al: Yep, they were (and are) real Americans. I've got cousins, Uncles, and Aunts in Alaska (actually The Mrs.' family...but after all these years, they are just as much mine as hers).
They are a tough, loving, hard-nosed, patriotic bunch. God bless 'em all!
By the way Al, Welcome Home.

Al, the funny thing is that Fairfield is now regarded as Redneckville and is more American than any other Bay Area city.
