Will you contact me about your experience? Do you have a new drivers license? Does it have a hologram with headlights and an outline of North America? I am writing an article about this and I am working with Representative Jim Guest of MO to put an end to the Real ID. If I have to move out of NC to avoid getting a new License, I will do that. I would prefer to stay and fend this off. If we let more people in North Carolina know what is going on perhaps the people in Raleigh will hear us when we all call in ad complain.

I did have to pay a $10 fee for a new drivers license. State law says that once you move you have, I believe, 60 days to change your license.

I am curious about the license exchange. Did they charge you for a new license.
My license cracked in two pieces. I took it to the dmv folks and they informed me that there would be a $10 charge to replace their defective product. I scotch taped it back together and still use it.

Remember, all government is like the DMV, only the size differs.

Yes, you are correct Jim. But...If you have no idea what RFID is and you are in a large crowd of people, say in Europe. If a "terrorist" was to purchase a hand held reader for $2000, a lot less then say a shoulder fired rocket, you are now a target to him. We are aiding the enemy not making it harder for him. The information stored also makes it easier for an identity thief, who can spend $2000 for a reader to enable him to walk through the local mall and scan at will, stealing enough info to go shopping as Jim Caserta tomorrow at the very same mall without you even knowing they have done so. One hacker at a tech site said that "RFID is so simple to hack, I don't think it is worthy of the term hack". Scary stuff either way.

Even if it did have rfid, I think you can block the rf by wrapping your license in foil. RFID is a very short distance technology, so a cop could scan you when he pulled you over, but would not be able to pick you up from 100yds away.
