This is a great post. I love the part about calling the doctor back! I've been hung up on once or twice myself and I always just moved on to the next one up the ladder, but I love this approach!

omg, I seriously cannot believe that you've been hung up on. How rude. Nice come back though.
I do remember the days in the ER where I never had to call a doc. These days, now that we hold patients for 2 and 3 days, text paging is becoming more and more frequent. The most difficult thing is actually getting a doc down to the ER to see their admitted patient.

I'm glad you liked the comeback Tiesha. I haven't had to use it very often..

I wouldn't think of text messaging the docs around here Jen. They don't seem to be very up to date with technology.

I have hung up on nurses before because I will not sit there and listen to them abuse me over the phone. Quite often I will say, 'I will hang up this phone if you don't stop shouting', followed by, 'You are very welcome to take this up with my supervisor, byebye!'.

I can't imagine nurses who would just abuse a doctor for no particular reason tscd.. Unless they are just totally unprofessional and stupid of course..
