Amen. Couldn't have said it better myself. I also saw an article about this in our local paper over the weekend. It also said that private ins. companies would likely follow in Medicare's footsteps. But of course. Don't want to cut into their huge profits by actually having to pay any claims

Lisa, I am already seeing the aggravation from the insurance companies while trying to get testing done for my patients. I think that if the patient pays for insurance, they should be able to get whatever test they agree to. I understand the concept of frivolous testing but if the patient wants a routine chest xray but doesn't have a specific symptom, some won't do it.

And if you think private ins. companies are fun to fight, try Medicaid. Yeah, baby, welcome to my new world!

We don't take Medicaid unless it's Medicare/Medicaid.. I don't even want to think of the headaches.

here in the philippines, nurse patient ratio is so blah! So there's a high risk for errors. And imagine the work we have to accomplish all at the same time. *sigh*
as for medicare i'm not sure of the preventable errors coverage

TofuLou, I agree that it will help no one. I can't imagine how much malpractice insurance your boyfriend must have to pay! We don't have many of them here in my town anymore. It's too expensive to practice.

that's why he had to be part of a medical group - because they pay for his malpractice. it's something ridiculous like 350k/year. unbelievable.
