Problem with "looking at McCain" is that it means continuing the same damned bunch of idiots that got us into the mess we're in. But I do understand where you're coming from.
When I heard Hillary Clinton say she felt the Florida and Michigan primaries were "fair" even though she was the only Democrat on the ballot, I nearly went through the roof!

I agree Davis...I do take some comfort in the fact the so many of folks on the far right can't stand McCain. I don't agree with him on several issues, but I do respect him for many reasons...not the least of which is that he seems to share Obama's ability to see a good idea as a good idea, regardless of where it comes from.
In some ways I feel for Hillary...this was supposed to be her moment, and I do think that she is a gifted, capable leader...but the trajectory of her campaign over the last few weeks has been troubling, and feels desperate. The comments that she has made about Florida and Michigan are an example.
Grace and Peace,
Joe

McCain would be a serious option for me, were it not for his terrifying stance on foreign policy. And it is quite terrifying, as it seems in recent weeks that even his long standing objection to torture is for sale if it will grab him conservative flank.
On an unrelated note, it's good to see you back, Joe. The blogosphere is a better place with you in it.

Thanks JT...I really appreciate that!

I have been really disappointed with the way that McCain has seem to shop his values in an attempt to consolodate conservative support. If McCain, of all people, won't hold the line on torture...well, that does cancel out his more moderate stances in other areas for me.
Grace and Peace,
Joe

Ewww. McCain. I live in Phoenix, and I've met him...he's weird, hahaha. Not to mention - an ex-Episcopalian!
