Looks like it's promoting the "F*ckucinno" - legs akimbo and everything.

Gravatar Not sure about that "new" logo. It looks antiquated.

They should stick with the original, in my opinion.

I don't see it as offensive in any way. I'm not sure what the hoopla is all about.

Gravatar Interesting. I wonder if they tested it?

I would not have thought of a sexual connotation at first. Maybe they are just trying to show that their coffee really is HOT!

Gravatar Well, I saw the new logo in real life for the first time today. It is brown, and looks like something out of antiquity, right off of the Pequod. Looks classy, and not at all suggestive.

On a related note, NPR's Science Friday talked today about all the undiscovered diversity in the oceans. So maybe Starbucks has discovered something about the actual anatomy of mermaids that we did not know!

Gravatar I dig the new logo. I like its old fashioned look.

It reminds me of that time I was saved by a school of mermaids off the coast of Alaska. We, in the business, call that experiential marketing...

Gravatar I only noticed the logo change from your blog! I will take a second look the next time I go near a Starbucks. I like the simple green/black logo with less wording. I wonder why they would ditch green just when 'green' has such a buzz going? The new logo seems more in keeping with a fish market - the fleshy mermaid with obvious tails looks like a mutant. It's seriously unappetizing. If her upper half meshed seamlessly with the lower half, it might be more appealing, instead of looking like a sewn-together Victorian curiosity. I like Panera's cozy, nurturing, and toasty-looking logo much better. Even though it's bakery-focused, that logo always makes me think of drinking my favorite coffee with the smell of fresh-baked bread wafting around me. Or with a yummy baked good in hand. The scaly half-naked fish lady could never do that for me.
