Congratulations on your second anniversary. I discovered your site a few months back and visit often. It's a wonderful resource for new ideas and a catalyst for revisiting old interests, like early Penguin covers and the paintings of Andre Derain. I found out first about the passing of Oriana Fallaci here, as well. An endlessly interesting site...may you continue forever. That you have great taste in music, almost goes without saying.

I wrote that bit above about your site being a catalyst for discovering old interests and about finding things out here first (Fallaci). Well thanks to you, I just had a small epiphany. I always liked that song by Donald Fagen, "I.G.Y." and wondered about the meaning of the title. I noticed your scan of "The Story of IGY" and had an ah-ha moment, which was confirmed when I read your quote, just below the picture. So thanks again...I'm off to read about the International Geophysical Year.
