i remember seeing 'big black' about the same time as that 'outhouse' concert.

for some strange reason, the talented 'violent femmes' turned some amazing hard edged punk, into something that seemed too hard at times.

thus, 'the replacements' soon went on to fill a proper medium.

Appreciated the implicit link between currents in jazz/country/blues in the mid-section. Thanks for a wide-ranging and magisterial (gaack - what a word! - but if you can put together this diverse a lot of music without losing the thread, you've earned it) survey.
