I read this each time you update it. I use the RSS feed, so I don't have to check it every day. I like the detailed, fact-based writing, and most of the music. Thanks!

Gravatar This is the model of what I think a music blog should look like.

Gravatar It is one of the highlights of my week. Your WW1 stuff was plain brilliant. But you capture the period that you write about so well. I found it because you would post a few interesting MP3s - those were just the cherry on the top. It'll be a great loss if you stop - but I'll still relish every post until then.
Paul

Gravatar Also, you still have 77 years to go!

Gravatar I think I got here a few months after you started. As I've stated before, IMO, this is the best music blog and one that has been the model for many that have followed. Since you started Locust St, the Internet has gone through many permutations - as a blogger, it's hard to not be effected by them. I'm not quite sure where I fit in nowadays, but I'll always be around somewhere. Here's hoping you'll keep posting about music to the web, not often does the writing match the artistry of the music being discussed, you are one of the rare exceptions. Thanks for all the time you spent keeping Locust St going and teaching someone who thought they knew a lot about popular music that there's always so much more to learn.

Gravatar You can't go - all the plants will die.

As a devoted Locust Streeter since January '06 & a blogger since January '08, you've inspired me more than you can imagine.

Forgive the hyperbole, but you're "the Velvet Underground & Nico" of music blogs.

I urge you to reconsider quitting. Please. Even if it means fewer posts. If I had the time & resources you do, I'd do this until my dying day.

Gravatar Isn't it just like you to quit? I mean, just when you have something - something! - good going in your life, you say "fuck it" and leave.

Gravatar Don't be heartless, Big Ed.

We'll make it through the '20s at least (hopefully) before lights out, I hope. And there's one last theme series I've been meaning to do.

Gravatar Your blog is amazing. I read it when you update, and am always glad.

Gravatar Chris, while I fully relate to the burden of blogging, to this I say, "you ain't going nowhere."
TB

Gravatar I sincerely hope that you do NOT end your blog. Your comments are among the most provocative and thoughtful of any I've read. I look forward to your updates, as I tend to gain new perspectives. Minimally, you have turned me on to interesting literature and music.

Gravatar Say it ain't so, Chris O.

How about continuing to write until you reach 1945?

Gravatar Well, a man's gotta do what he's gotta do. Been a great ride.

Thanks big guy. Your efforts have been appreciated by me and lots of others. Ya got taste and savoir faire and all that Jazz. If ya finds ya self in the middle of the Mediterranean some day, as I did, give me a call. I owe ya.
Ciao a presto

Gravatar I've been looking through the archives trying to figure out when I started following Locust St. Probably somewhere around 1950. I've always said that this is the best music blog out there, for the quality of both writing and music, and it's sure enhanced my knowledge over the last 5 years. I would like to echo Mark's plea to at least continue to 1945...but hell, it ain't like you're getting paid for it. So good luck with whatever else you're doing.

Gravatar well, thanks to all. The original plan *was* to aim for 1945, but I really don't think I have it in me anymore. We'll see how it goes. We'll likely get to the start of the Depression at least.

Gravatar I just found your blog a few months ago, but it's quickly become one of my favourites...
it's been fun reading & discovering new old music from you.

Gravatar Locus Street is my kind of street.
Thanks a million Chris !

Gravatar I've only been reading Locust Street for the past year or so but wanted to extend my thanks for all your time and effort in presenting music that must be heard. Happy Anniversary!

Gravatar I can't remember how long I've been coming here regularly, but it's been at least four years plus, since I know I was reading here before my children were born.

I look forward to reading here whatever the future brings. I truly appreciate the effort and your writing. Here's hoping that if Locust St. must end, your muse pushes you towards something you find equally interesting to share.

Just make sure you leave a link LOL.

Thanks for all you've done.

Gravatar I've enjoyed this blog for years now. your writing is exceptional, your choices always interesting. I've learned quite a few things here. And while I fully understand that all things have their time I will miss updates to this site. In the meantime I'm looking forward to the things that are still to come.

And I love, love, love your David Bowie blog.

Gravatar I stumbled across your blog in the summer of 05, and I have to say that I've enjoyed absolutely every beautiful minute of it. I've looked forward to your posts and have truly savored them over the years. Not just the amazing music, but also your essays and pictures and historical background have presented a completed, complex thought - something dangerously lacking in a world filled with snippets. You've accomplished something fantastic here, and though I am saddened that it will end, please know how much we all appreciate how much time, love and effort you've put into this project.

Gravatar I can't add much more than Liz. We both started reading (and listening) about the same time, and yessirree, it's been a fantastic journey.
Thanks so much for your efforts. You know, people finish a book and publish it, and rarely do they get pestered for just a few more chapters. you're doing something right.
How much would it cost to keep the archive up? Can we do a fund-raiser? Or maybe let someone transform this into audio--you know: reading your texts and playing the tunes...

Gravatar started reading when you did the colors series, which was very cool. like your blog for being idiosyncratic and personal and content-oriented. keeping a chronology is less important. appreciate your efforts!

Gravatar i'm sure i speak for many readers of this blog when i tell you how much we appreciate your thoughtful music choices and effort and time you put into your writings.

thank you, and job well done!

Gravatar Well, I like your site a lot. Maybe someone else will pick up the ball..!
I'm living in the boonies in Spain and (rare) sites like this keep me sane.

Gravatar I'm with Liz and J on this one (though I don't know them),
Your posts have brought me so much emotion. I usually end up talking about the music you've turned me onto for the couple of days after you post. While I'll miss Locust St, I understand how things change. Ive read you from Houston to San Francisco to New York.
I would be really interested in helping to set up funding for an archive. The way you've investigated the world surrounding the music and brought it to life is something rare and should be preserved.

Gravatar Great job you do on this blog! Quality work. Fantastic! I understand it can become a job, exactly. I'll follow you until you quit, and it is your choice if you do so.
Thanks for all you share here.

Gravatar Would definitely donate towards an archive, should that regrettable, if understandable, last day arrive. What I've learned here will only deepen and become more rewarding with the years. Intend to revisit many times.
