You summed up the perfect discription of The Mountain's High. In my memoir, Vinyl Highway,I wrote about how that song came into being and what went wrong in the studio to create a single that sounded like it came outter space.
All the rest of your information about Dick and Dee Dee is correct, something rare these days. You're also an excellent writer.

Thanks so much for "I'm Late" with Stan Getz and strings. I am a 35+ year professional violinist and have done jazz sessions myself (Art Pepper, etc.) but this is the best I've heard in so long! Sauter's arrangement is amazing, and it's interesting that even such a crack New York string group would have evident difficulties with the rhythms! Anyway, an inspiring tune for an aging fiddler still working "in the trenches."
