2 things. why the hell are you in a bank doing personal business on the clock. You dont have any police training why are you doing they're work. Also, the evil letter carrier didn't run after the robber, he ran "into" the robber while trying to get the license number of the car.

Good Samaritan, my butt. Why didn't good ole Robert notice the 73 year old woman's mail building up after a few days or one week? He said she had not picked up her mail in a month. Maybe after a few days of not picking up her mail and Robert notified someone, she may still be alive. Nope, Robert ignored the warning signs and did it his way and now she is dead.
Robert obviously being unarmed exited the bank knowing full well the robber was armed as the robber fired off one shot while in the bank. But Robert wanting to be Mr. Super Hero exited the bank in an attempt to get a description of the get away car when he ran into the armed robber. Robert ended up fighting for his life with the robber and nearly got his head blown off for his efforts
Robert should have never exited the bank as what could happen, happened. He is darn lucky he didn't get his head blown off.
No sane unarmed person goes after a person who has a gun and who just fired off a round in the bank. Common sense goes a long way. Robert did not eat a bowl of common sense for breakfast. I believe he ate a bowl of stupid for breakfast.
Since his actions at the bank were not within the scope of his duties, his injury should not be covered as an on the job injury. Hope he has good medical insurance and a lot of leave on the books while he recovers.
Poster Asher is FOS if he thinks the "service" should pay his earnings while recovering from off the clock injuries. THIS is why you need to save your SL people. I even have a hard time supporting the federal charges for the assault of this individual, just because he worked for the USPS.
The article did say the old lady was a recluse, which I guess insinuates she didn't pick her mail up regularly, but still ... after the 3rd you'd be wondering why her SS check was still sitting in there.

I think you should have at least worked on passing the sixth grade before taking on these posts. Your education level appears to be in the sixth grade reading and writing range. I think it's very sad that some people just squeeze through the system like that. Is that why your homeless? You poor poor thing. As for the elderly customer on Roberts route, is the mail volume at it's lightest ever or not. For someone who recieves a sparse letter here and there, a month of accumulation wouldn't seem out of the ordinary. And don't go on about advo's, Jimmy D. Some carriers tray advo's and they sit for weeks.
Just as I suspected, robert left the bank looking to get a plate number on the guys car. Not to take on an armed criminal. So while everyone in the bank lay In the fetal position, Robert tried to get any info so the police dept. would have a better chance of stopping a maniac. If the p.o. refuses to consider his injuries on the job, I think the union should set up a fund to pay his expenses. Then sue the ass off the usps for compensation.

Here is the problem with that. bank robbers alway's use stolen cars. Do you think they are as stupid as you postal workers. This idiot ran out to take the license number of a stolen vehicle. Bank robbers understand that if they use their own vehicle it would be pretty easy to track them down dumb ass. It is also very fortunate that super letter carrier stopped the bullet with his neck. what happens if the robber misses him and the stray bullet kills or wounds an innocent bystander. Is he still superman and batman rolled up into one. Like i said let the cops do their job. I guess we could add guardian angel to your job description if that will make you feel better. Ok homeless/the professor, according to you, if the car is stolen then no use getting the plate number. The plate number is no use in identifying the vehicle if it's stolen. What a knuckle headed douche you turned out to be. Does your mother know you're that stupid? The cops see the getaway car speeding down the road but they let it go because the plate the mailman gave was of a stolen vehicle. I bet you're really a five year old posting on sites. I'll bet the emergency responders to Robert nearly getting his head blown off weren't real happy with him. He stuck his nose into something that is the sole responsibility of armed law enforcement personnel. His witness statement from being in the bank when it was robbed was more than enough, nothing more was expected.
One more stupid move like this from Robert and he will be pushing up daisies.
I think medics remain unbiased when it comes to treating injured citizens who need urgent medical care.
