I just thought I might add that I really like your blog, I'm an aspiring young geologist/palaeonotlogist (palaeoanthropologist actually, I hope.
It was horribly humid. Geology blogs are generally more accessible (i.e. interesting) than the majority of the chemistry ones out there, for what it is worth. It was just that there was a crowd of 'open notebook chemistry bloggers' at the conference who were somewhat vocal...and then there were the biologists (blugh) who are vastly over represented in blogs!!
I skipped beer at the end, had enough by that point! Lousy networker as well...
It was nice to meet you last weekend (and I have only just now twigged who you were, and had I known I'd have said "I read your blog too"!).
I stayed for beer, and ended up in a deep and meaningful discussion with Henry Gee about tomatoes. Apparently the key to ripening them is to stick them in a drawer with a banana.
It was a blast, wasn't it? I'm looking forward to next year; if I'm still in Australia I'm seriously considering funding out of my own pocket.
