I may come out in thirty years. Just like the porn movie named source did. Yes. I am the source.

Great post. I, too, am a union supporter. The recent attacks on the Governator are making me rethink my support.

Your friend makes an excellent point. The truth is ... the Demos are in the grips of many interest groups that do not represent the interests of the little-guy, the guy who works hard but loves his country and is distrustful of big business and government intervention.

There in lies the problem and one of my issues with the party as well. Where is the support for the "everyman" working guy. Its not in the party and its not in the unions anymore either.

It all comes down to whether you are for "groups" or for the "individual."
Dems are now a "group" think party. Reps are too, but slightly less so I think.

KJ,
I disagree. If you look at the trackbacks alone in the blogosphere the right sticks together far more than the left. The left never seems to unite. I would give the example of the Swift Boat Vets For Truth. Linked to by 95% of the rights political bloggers. Sad, that teh left can not do that more. Just a thought......

You managed to attack unions without saying what it was they did that made you upset.
Unions are for:
1) A reasonable work week. Bush tried to re-write rules to make more people eligible for not being paid overtime.
2) A living wage--even though it does not directly benefit their membership.
3) A fair shake in the pension system--If you think it's fair now, talk to United employees.
4) Bill Clinton was better for business than the deranged lunatic George "Arbusto" Bush could ever be. People made money the old fashioned way, by earning it. Not by cooking the books.
Apparently, what you want unions to do is to allow Americans to work for wages like they do in Malaysia--whatever they can get.
What you don't understand is that Unions don't do anything that businesses don't do: They parlay recources to get a better price for their product: labor.
If Republicans insist upon driving down the little guy, to cut their wages so they can't afford rent and cut their health insurance so they have to watch their kids die, you aren't going to like the end result, because workers won't take it.
