ohhhoo!!! I found your blog via Craftgossip
I saw some gorgeous scarves like this at a museum store, but $300 was WAY out of my price range. I don't knit well, but was studying them to see how it was done. I am so happy to see my 'guess' was right! I am gonna spin some silk/merino fine yarn, then try to do a simple knit and try it for myself!
thank you!!!!

I was wondering how many skeins of the Handpainted lace weight yarn you used to make this scarf, or, in general, how many yards it takes.
Thanks for this tutorial. I can't wait to try it!

Beautiful soft lace hand dyed yarn.
Ideal for knitting diverse kinds of garments: shawls, light autumn/spring garments, socks, etc.
100% Pure Wool. Yardage: 950 yards per skein.
I would not think that more than one shein would be needed 950 yards in plenty of wool Jussi, is this correct?
Regrads,
Linda

Your scarf is just beautiful. I'd love to make one but am concerned about the care instructions What do you suggest for care and cleaning of something like that?

In reply to Alyson's comment regarding care and cleaning.
The important thing is to avoid all situations where the fabric can felt again, so no hot water and agitation, I would suggest soaking in cool water with an added woolwash product (preferably one that doesn't require rinsing)

Hi. I am trying to find names of fashion designers who have been inspired or used shibori in their designs. I am an A-level student and have just made a top using shibori and now have to write about two designers who have used shibori but I can't find any! Any help would be appreciated.

Love the scarf! Wee question though. What is 2T soap? Is is a kind of woolwash?

This is adorable. I have had a similar project waiting to be started for a while now, I think this has inspired me to get started!
FYI for NON-Knitters....
If you know how to pick scarves that are wool and will felt, you can make this too! Just buy a pre-made scarf in a store (or thrift store, you're gonna wash it anyways!) and do the same thing to it as you see here. I like to felt my knitting in hair conditioner. It smells better and gives a softer fabric when finished. Use less rather than more though ( about 1-2 tbsp to a small wash load of hot/warm water), It may cause the wool to not hold the button shapes as well. Unless you want to, there's no need for extra rinsing.

I have tried felting on scarves but often find the wool fibers do not migrate thru the material. Do I need to just felt longer or do you prepare your scarf in some way (wash, add starch, etc)? thanks
