I am green with envy - such a wonderful holiday.
Try and have lunch at 'le palais de jardin' near Covent Garden, it's my alltime favourite restaurant for ladies who lunch, don't go for dinner as it is a bit iffy with the service at night. But in the day, the flirty waiters, oohh la la. Oh, I forgot, it's not you and me going, it's you and flash. Scratch that idea then.
Quaglino's is great for dinner. It's like being on a forties style luxury cruise liner, kind of retro but so cool, with gorgeous cigarette girls (in this day and age, how non pc) and glorious cocktails. The massive domed frosted blue glass ceiling changes colour with the weather - like Hogwarts!
When in France, enjoy a glass or two (at least) of Pouilly Fuisse, and marvel at the similarity to your own esteeemed Marlborough Sauv Blanc.
Say hello to Flash and the girls for me. I miss you.
Sounds like a fabulous trip, have a great time. Re the paris knitting group, if you post a message on Ravelry, there is an Anglophone Yarnies in France group, a few members live in Paris and may be able to help.
