your drop of serotoninrain...

Gravatar I'm "Austin" too. Guess that makes me a closet Texan also. But I'm not sure true Texans accept Austin as their own. Better ask Eric and Jimmy.

Gravatar I'm Boston!

"Both modern and old school, you never forget your roots."

Indeed. Since I was born there and all...

Gravatar We don't have to like it, but you can't get much more Texan than Austin.

But between the hippies and the politicians, it ain't a place that the Texican founding fathers would recognize, that's fer sure.

Gravatar Well, apparently Austin & Los Angeles are the only cities in the US where you can get Mexican food, according to this quiz. I played around with it a bit, changing some of my answers but leaving the food answer the same. It always came back as either Austin or LA (LA, even when I clicked a preference for the northeast. Maybe that's NE LA?)

Gravatar So, if my preferences were Mexican food and West Coast, why was I not LA? Probably because of my distaste for the superficial. If I leave everything the same (including Mexican food) but my friends say I'm brainy instead of offbeat (not that they would, but IF), then I'd be Boston. So it's possible to get Mexican food in other parts of the US.

Gravatar Eric, if you'd prefer to be Boston, I'll let you copy my answers.

Gravatar I didn't even pick Mexican food when I did it. And there's a pretty decent place here in Pottstown, so Los Angeles and Austin aren't the only two.

Gravatar Apparently, I'm Boston. I guess that isn't too shocking. I really do like Mexican food, but I get so much of here here in SoCal that I don't really think of it as a favorite anymore.

Gravatar Heh, Jim. But do you really think Pottstown is one of the cities in this quiz? If it was, what would be the defining question?

Gravatar "Would you say you are addicted to hopelessness?"

Gravatar Gee, that's depressing...either for Pottstown residents, or the rest of the country, depending on what "yes" means. :-(

Gravatar Yes means you wind up being Pottstown. This town has a dramatic self-image problem, which is too bad. It could be a great place to live if it would just dare to hope. Maybe someday.

Gravatar I am Boston. I like Boston, it's a fun place. It said that I was "snobby"... I don't know that I agree with that. Now, the logical next step here is to develop some kind of relational compatibility assessment based on what city you are...like, can Boston and L.A be friends??

Gravatar Kate, your name and snobby should not even be mentioned in the same sentence, unless of course that sentence is the one I just typed.

Gravatar Boston is indicated for those who prefer Mexican food?

Harumph.

[And you can quote me on that.]

Gravatar I'm an Austin too. I hate country music! This is ruining my day.

Gravatar Eric,

I don't know about Boston, but the place here in Pottstown is one of a number of Mexican restaurants around, but it's the only one where you'll find actual Mexican people eating. It's theoretically possible to do genuine Mexican food here in the Northeast.

Hey, stop by some time I'll take you to lunch!

Gravatar Remind me to do a post someday about "Mexican vs Tex-Mex." Referring, of course, to cuisine.

Next time I'm in Pottsburg, I'll take you up on that offer.

Gravatar That's Pottsville, Eric. Or is it Pottsburough? No wonder they have a self-image problem.

Gravatar It's Pottstown. There actually is a Pottsville, PA about an hour from here. And, Pottstown isn't a town, really, it is a borough. Pretty cool, huh?

Gravatar I know, I know. I was just giving Pottsvillage a hard time, as was Eric, I'm sure.

Gravatar I figured that. But there really is a Pottsville.
:-]

Gravatar I saw that on the map. But Pottstown is where all the beautiful people live, right?

Gravatar I don't know about beautiful, but cool--certainly.

Gravatar "What part of the US do you like the best" omits the best part! There's no midwest! This survey is flawed.

It makes me Boston no matter what I choose there. I do like Boston.

And what's with "The west coasts"? The one I know about over there is plenty. Dont' tell me there's another somwhere...

Gravatar That's pretty good Brian. I didn't pick up on those things, but I'm a pretty non-critical thinker when it comes to memes. You would think that as a longtime Ohio resident, I would have noticed the lack of Midwestiness.
