John - I'm slowly wrapping my head around the podcasting thing. I think I'm too old and my brain is too inflexible to have grasped the effect it will have. Maybe it was the name that made it sound so trendy.
Anyway - if you've ever used TiVO or known a friend who did, podcasting is similar in that it allows for "on demand" audio.
FYI - Al Franken is now podcasting. Before he did, he was unable to reach me with his broadcasts. RSS allows me to pick and choose what feeds I want during the day.
It's pretty cool. What I failed to see was the difference between Podcasting and std. on line Audio that Audible.com provided. I'm starting to get it: ease and convenience is the difference for the listener and money and convenience is the difference for the broadcaster.

Bruce:
Thanks for your comments ... I do believe that lifestyle is a big reason why I don't "get" podcasts. It's that I am never in a situation where I would listen to a recording on the go.
I don't commute ... I don't ride a bike ... and if I walk for exercise, I like to think rather than listen to music or an audio program.
So I'm probably not the podcasting audience, at least right now.
Perhaps I need to borrow my daughter's iPod and download a couple, just to get a feel for them. Maybe then I would make the time to listen.
