We have been involved with using blogging and a website to "shine the light" on developer issues in our community of Sienna Plantation. We have been very successful at building a 1000+ e-contact list but recently came under fire on several occassions by the developer's attorneys out here. We will continue to "get the word out" as long as we can and highly recommend the SOS site for keeping track of the local district. No matter what the consequence open and free discussions have power at the grass-roots level. In our community it has helped launch a political campaign to boot the local developer backed mayor. Who knows what else?
Take care and happy blogging!-Dr. Calvin

Chris:
Thanks for visiting and thanks for the comments.
I believe strongly that "watchdog blogs" -- especially those that strive to gain and maintain credibility through factual, honest and transparent communication -- will have a major impact on governmental bodies and other traditional institutions.
Citizen journalism is just awakening, but there is tremendous power there.
